Homefolk Market is a country store of handmade goods, vintage items and homewares.

Founded in 2021 by Stephanie Capan, Homefolk Market strives for a cozy and casual style that leaves you feeling like you’re living the simple country life. We aim to provide beautiful, unique and thoughtfully sourced items. With handmade goods, our hope is to put a modern spin on an art that’s been around since the 19th century and to educate and inspire others so that they may fall in love with the craft that’s been passed down in our family for generations.

Owner

Stephanie is a wife and mother of four boys and she and her family reside in small-town, Ohio. Stephanie previously owned and operated Winnie Jean, a hand lettered apparel and home goods shop from 2009-2018. She closed its virtual doors to focus on being a stay at home wife and mama. Fast forward to the end of 2020, as Stephanie was looking for another creative outlet, and Homefolk Market was born.

Our Story

I think we can all agree, 2020 was a tough year. I suffered from anxiety for the first time in my life, which was made worse by scrolling social media and the news on my phone. By November, I was searching for anything to do that didn't involve looking at a screen.

One night, while walking the aisles of a big box craft store I decided to pick up some yarn and a crochet hook. Over the years my nanny Martha and aunt Christie had taught me the basics of this craft and I was confident that with what little knowledge I had retained, paired with the gift of YouTube, I would be able to figure it out. I started working on a dishcloth that night (pictured here) and I don't think I've gone a day since without picking up a crochet hook. That Christmas, just about everyone received a crocheted dishcloth from me.

Almost immediately, I began daydreaming about having a handmade shop. It was only a couple of months in when I decided to just go for it.

I have big dreams for how homefolk will grow and I hope one day we'll also offer vintage goods, antiques, and products from other makers all from a little storefront right on Main Street. You’ll have to stay tuned to see.

Thanks for following along.

Dream Big,
Steph Capan✨

“I believe that a godly home is a foretaste of heaven. Our homes, imperfect as they are, must be a haven from the chaos outside. They should be a reflection of our eternal home, where troubled souls find peace, weary hearts find rest, hungry bodies find refreshment, lonely pilgrims find communion, and wounded spirits find compassion.”✨
